Since its inception in 2003, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has completed three major projects that are its work plan set out to accomplish.

  • New LED street lighting was placed in the median of Gratiot Avenue to make the DDA bright and inviting.
  • The DDA contracted with a company to install landscaping improvements in the Gratiot median.
  • The DDA installed new entrance signs at the north and south ends of Gratiot within the median to clearly define the DDA boundaries.

All three improvements are maintained by the DDA.

Façade Improvement Program

During the past year, the DDA has started a Façade Improvement Program (PDF) and started planning for new landscaping along the median of Gratiot Avenue. Due to the expiration of the TIF/Work Plan in 2019, revenues are limited in 2020.
